Clipboard
One clipboard for two devices: text and pictures, in both directions, without a cloud in between.
Phone to computer
Open Clipboard in the bottom bar.
- Paste text sends what is on the phone's clipboard. Paste it on the computer with ⌘V or Ctrl+V.
- Send a photo opens the photo picker. The picture arrives on the computer's clipboard as an image, ready to paste into a design tool, a document or a chat.
The status line says Sending…, then On the computer's clipboard with its size.
Computer to phone
Whatever the computer copies appears under Recent from the computer, the last 15 items: text as text, pictures as pictures. Tap one to copy it onto the phone. A screenshot copied on the computer is one tap from your camera roll or a message.
For designers and developers
- Send a photo from the phone straight into Figma, Photoshop, Keynote or a pull request description.
- Copy a link, an error message or a snippet on the computer and paste it on the phone.
- Copy a screenshot on the computer and share it from the phone.
Private items stay private
What a password manager marks as private is withheld by the computer before it reaches the network, and the phone says so: "Something private: a password manager marked it, so it stays on the computer." This works on Mac and Windows. On Linux there is no such marker, so avoid copying passwords there while AirMouse is open.
Limits
- Pictures from the phone are sent as PNG and shrunk if needed to keep each transfer under about 3.5 MB.
- Pictures from the computer arrive at up to 1400 pixels wide.
- On Linux the clipboard needs
wl-clipboard(Wayland) orxclip(X11).
