Docs / Using AirMouse
Media and volume
Play, pause and volume for whatever is playing on the computer, from across the room.
The controls
Media in the bottom bar has previous, play or pause and next, a Back and Forward seek row, a volume slider and Mute.
- The track buttons press the computer's own media keys, so they reach any player that listens to them: Music, Spotify, VLC and most others. On Linux, AirMouse talks to the player directly over MPRIS first.
- Video in a browser has no queue to skip through, so use Back and Forward, which press the arrow keys most video players use to seek.
Volume
The slider sets the computer's own volume, so it moves everything playing there.
- On a Mac and on Linux, the slider starts at the computer's real level.
- On Windows it starts in the middle and moves the volume in steps from there.
- The level is read when the phone connects; a change made on the computer itself is not shown until you reconnect.
On Linux, volume needs wpctl (PipeWire) or pactl.
