Requirements
What AirMouse runs on, and what the network has to allow.
iPhone
- iOS 17.0 or later.
- iPhone only, in portrait. AirMouse is not built for iPad.
- Permissions it asks for: Local Network (to find and reach the computer) and Camera, only if you scan a pairing QR code. It never asks for your photos: sending a picture uses the system photo picker, which runs outside the app.
Computer
| System | Versions | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| macOS | 13 and later | The download is built for Apple silicon (M1 and later). Signed and notarised by Apple. |
| Windows | 10 and 11 | 64-bit Intel or AMD. |
| Linux | X11 or Wayland | 64-bit x86, glibc. Optional helpers listed in Installing. |
Network
- Phone and computer on the same local network: the same Wi-Fi, or Wi-Fi and cable on the same router.
- The computer app listens on TCP port 1978. Its pairing page uses port 1979, on the computer itself only.
- Discovery uses Bonjour (mDNS), service
_remotepc._tcp. Guest networks and some hotel or campus Wi-Fi block devices from seeing each other; see Troubleshooting. - Only private addresses are accepted: 10.x, 172.16-31.x, 192.168.x, link-local and their IPv6 equivalents. Connections from the internet, or from VPN ranges such as 100.64.0.0/10, are refused.
Languages
The app is in English, Portuguese and Spanish, and follows the phone's language. The computer app's dialogs and pairing page are in English.
