Docs / Using AirMouse
Keyboard
Type on the computer from the phone, including the keys a phone keyboard does not have.
Live keys and Compose
- Live keys sends every keystroke the moment you type it, like a wireless keyboard.
- Compose lets you write first and send it all in one go, which is better for a long message or a password field you want to get right.
Modifiers
Tap a modifier to arm it. It applies to the next key you press, then lets go by itself. Tap ⌘ then C and the computer receives ⌘C.
- On a Mac you see ⌃ ⌥ ⇧ ⌘.
- On Windows and Linux you see Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Win or Super.
Fixed keys
Escape, Tab, the four arrows and F1 to F12 are always one tap away.
Combos
The combos menu holds the shortcuts people reach for most, adapted to the computer:
| Mac | Windows | Linux |
|---|---|---|
| Switch app ⌘⇥ | Alt+Tab | Alt+Tab |
| Screenshot ⌘⇧4, whole screen ⌘⇧3 | Screenshot Win+Shift+S | Close window Alt+F4 |
| Spotlight ⌘Space | Search Win+S | GNOME: PrtSc, Super, Super+L |
| Lock ⌃⌘Q | Lock Win+L, Show desktop Win+D | KDE: PrtSc, Ctrl+F9, Ctrl+Alt+L |
Windows also offers Ctrl+Alt+Del, but Windows usually ignores that combination when it does not come from a physical keyboard.
On a Mac, the region screenshot (⌘⇧4) takes you to the trackpad with a short hint: drag the selection with L held, or press esc to cancel.
